My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
USA | Saturday, January 12, 2013 | flickr photos
I grew up in Iran few years after the revolution, where arts and liberal thoughts weren’t supported. I moved to U.S. at age of 15 alone without my family. I wanted to see where life takes me. It was then that I discovered photography; it was something that took me away from everything yet made me look at everything with open eyes.
All my life I wanted to travel the world, meet new people, discover new places, to me that’s the beauty of life; connecting with people anyway we can. When I have my camera, when I look into that lens; I see human emotions and words reflected on my lens. Sometimes it takes one photograph to tell a story, and when you capture that moment you’re hooked and it stays with you forever. That rush, the connection that you get from telling a person’s story and giving them voice is a fulfilling and humbling experience.
What I hope to gain from this scholarship is to further my passion of photography, to use my personal experiences and background to understand different parts of the world and its people, to help and teach them and learn something from them and hopefully share their story with the world.
