October blues..

UNITED KINGDOM | Tuesday, 7 October 2008 | Views [439]

I've been off work all day due to this stupid bug that seems to be going around... i had a sore throat on Friday evening, and by Saturday morning felt like i hadn't slept in 20 years... and i was coughing and sneezing and wishing my boyfriend hadn't invited his colleagues round for dinner that evening... my head was spinning as i wandered around Tesco looking for food.. and my usual interest in the Wine and Spirits aisle was less than zero...

I dragged my sorry arse into work on Monday, like a true martyr, and ended up walking home by 10 am clutching a bag of chicken soup and a bread roll.. I sensibly decided to stay home today too, as i have a long working day tomorrow, with evening duties leaving me out until probably half 9 or so... and i will need all the energy i can get at that event.

I am feeling better though, if still a little tired. I thought i would send some time searching for Travel Insurance for our big trip... hence why i ended up on this site... the insurance here seems like a good deal, but i will still shop around... it seems to be a minefield out there, and a situation requiring one to grow Mystic Meg eye sight in order to see into the future... will i ever need to claim on the insurance, and if so what for? What excess do i need, and can i afford to go with a cheaper company because i suspect (hope) that i won't be racking up massive medical expenses? Rumour has it that New Zealand has a reciprocal health care agreement with the UK, and thus medical expenses should cost little or zero... and what about the Winter Sports cover? I have never skied in my life but my partner has and i know he will want to do some whilst we are out there... should I get cover just in case? Will i be disappointed if he takes up the sport again over there and i can't join in because i am not covered?

It's enough to give everyone a headache... The cost is a big factor in which company we go with, and the quotes i am getting range from around £350 for both of us, or £350 each... to be honest here, I really don't have that money!! We're going in January, and i really, finacially, could do with another year to save a bit more money... but then time is getting on, and i for one am not getting any younger (it's the big 3.0 in a month's time!)... we've booked our flights too, so I've kinda already promised someone I will go then!!

Ah, well.... any suggestions for good value gap year insurance companies?
