Our Itinery...

South America travelling itinerary
Brazil
- One monthWe are flying out to Sao Paulo, on the 2nd June.
We hope to go and see the Cristo Redentor, and take a cog train to the top of the Corcovado summit, to get some good views. We are visiting Parque Nacional de Tijuca, Going on a tour of the favelas and watching a match at Maracana football stadium. Next we are doing a 3 day tour of the Pantanal,Visiting ‘Gruta do Lago Azul’ water cave, Rapelling down into Abismo de Anhumas, which is an underground cave filled with crystal clear waters which we will snorkel in and Visiting Reserva Ecologica Baia in Bonita and snorkelling in the rivers. We will then get a boat to Manaus, which will take 3 days, sleeping in hammocks, Once in Manaus we will be doing a 3-4 day trip,of the Amazon basin.
Venezuela - One month
Santa Elena de Uairen, Do a 5 day trek up Roraima, which is a table top mountain. Next we will visit Angel falls and go on a 3 day boat trip. We will then visit the Delta del Orinoco for 2 days and spend another day visiting Cueva Del Guacharo cave, which is the longest cave in the world and hopefully camp outside the cave to watch all the birds fly out at night. Once in Merida, we will watch the Catatumbo lightning, which is a natural phenomenon, where there is constant lightning without thunder. In Los Llanos we are doing a 4 day trip to get a close experience to wildlife on a large savanna. We are then flying from Caracas to Peru.
Peru - One Month

In Lima we are spending 4 days and visiting, Monasterio de San Francisco, Plaza de Armas, desert temples at Pachacamac and Mercado del Indios market. We then fly over the Nazca lines, which are unexplained animal pictures, hundreds of meters wide, made from pebbles. Next is a 4 day trip to Machu Picchu. In Puno, we are visiting Lake Titicaca islands – firstly Isla Taquile and staying with a local family for the night, the 2nd island is Islas Flotantes and the third is Isla Amantani, where we will again be sleeping with a local family. In Arequipa, we are visiting the Canon Del Colca on a 2 day trip,this is the worlds largest canon. Also in Arequipa we are going White water rafting on the Rio Chili through Canon Del Colca. Finally in Arequipa, we hope to do a two day trek to El Misti an active volcano. We are then travelling to Huaraz, where we visit the Chavin de Huantar ruins. Also in Huaraz, we visit Languna Llanganuco for a tour full day around the glacial scenery. We then are planning a 2 day trek up the Cordillera Blanca, an snow capped mountain. Then we are getting a flight to New York where we will stay for 2 days and do the usual NYC sights, then we are coming home.
