On the way, the pilgrims who are walking by foot to Karbala are being given free juice and shawarma. At the bottom right corner, notice that the man in a wheelchair is one of them. Taken from a moving bus.

9 am. They have already started preparing for lunch. This isn't the only spot where they have huge pots for cooking. Pots like these are everywhere around the city. And this food is distributed among the people for free. It's distributed and given out and forced into peoples hands. I was so surprised that people were this generous in a poverty-stricken country like Iraq.

The view from my hotel room window. This colourful kaleidoscope you see are people sleeping, wrapped in blankets. They have nowhere else to sleep. Once again, the blankets they are wrapped in were given to them for free. I have no words to describe the generosity and the hospitability of these Iraqi people.
On the top left, there is another group of people walking towards the shrine.
