Taken from a moving bus. These are people walking from the city of Najaf to the city of Karbala. This journey, which by bus takes 2 hours, takes 3 days on foot. It's not that these people cannot afford to go by bus or car, it's that they choose not to.

A group of pilgrims, walking from Imam Al Hussain's shrine, to Imam Abbas's shrine. They recite eulogies and praises and move in a group, to pay their respects to their Imams. This is what all those 20 million people are in Karbala for, this is what those 20 million people would sacrifice their life for.

9 am. They have already started preparing for lunch. This isn't the only spot where they have huge pots for cooking. Pots like these are everywhere around the city. And this food is distributed among the people for free. It's distributed and given out and forced into peoples hands. I was so surprised that people were this generous in a poverty-stricken country like Iraq.
