Behind the Festivities

My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

I am a photography entusiast who likes to travel and share what I know through photography. I love people, landscapes, still life, and details that makes life more meaningful to everyone and share those appreciation to people around me. We can get easily distracted by our lifestyle but when we see great photos, we learn to appreciate what God has given us. I would like to win this competition to share those inspiration to everyone.

I am a self taught photography enthusiast. I do not have the means to attend a formal photography school because I support my parents and siblings in life. I believe in helping others because it what makes us human. What I learn through my experiments in photography I teach to others also. I organize photography clubs at work, and I volunteer as a photographer at Church because they need people to take photos of events. I like to do things voluntarily because I believe people may not understand you when you speak, but when you act or when you show them a picture, they will come up with some sort of an explanation on what you are trying to say to them.

The portfolio I chose to enter here depict those ideals. The album captures a festivity that is held at the northern part of Luzon for the very first time. They did the festival to encourage people to go to their place and make it a tourist destination. But on the day of the festivities, there are only a few media organizations that came. This event wasn't promoted properly. It was just luck that we are on a road trip and we ended there. So I took time to take photos and shared it with friends so that they will know there is such a thing going on on those parts of the Philippines and it is held annually.
