My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

India | Wednesday, May 29, 2013 | 5 photos

I am Rupankar from Delhi, India. An engineer by education and a HR man by profession, but an avid traveler and photographer by heart. I design systems 335 days a year and explore the wilderness for the rest 30 days. Trekking in extreme conditions had taught me to live wild. Photography complements my travel and is a way to express my creative self. Wildlife photography is my favorite genre, mainly for the challenge of complex lighting. In last one year my work has been recognized in competitions and also got published a few times. But there are miles to go before I reach the next level. I never let go any opportunity to learn photography – be it the web or company of a photographer. This competition is an opportunity to learn from a stalwart. If I get a chance to rub shoulders with such accomplished photographer as Jason, that too for 10 days, something will definitely rub onto me. Finally, if I win, enriched with the knowledge from the trip, I will like to teach some needy children from my hometown who despite having eye for details could not afford photography training. A NatGeo stint will also help me rope in sponsors to buy equipment for these needy kids to start with.

About rupankar

Silence of the mountains was empowering and often engulfed the lonely traveler. Taking the final steps to the Shingo La pass.
