My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

India | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 5 photos

I am a full time student and photography to me is more than a hobby. Currently, I am doing my masters and previously I have worked as a researcher in Robotics systems. Photography has always charmed me and I have been fascinated by the traditional analog camera, the dark room and the old fashioned way of processing the Photorgraphs. The photography development lab at my undergraduate college ignited the interest in me to pursue photography. DSLR camera was too expensive for me then so after joining my first job and saving enough money for three months, I could finally buy my first and only DSLR camera,Canon 500D. I try to take it along with me wherever I go and I have personally enjoyed clicking pictures in Indian national forests which include Gir forest (abode of the Asiatic lion) and the Jim Corbett forest ( home to various feline species). I am also passionate about travelling and never miss an opportunity to explore new places. National geographic magazine and channels have also fascinated my interest and when I see its photographers and writers, I can see my ultimate dream job. Even working under a national geographic photographer in Kruger National park would be a dream come true for me. The photographs I am submitting are various scenes of the old Meena Bazar and around in the Old city of Delhi. The Bazars have not changes in past 400 years and the narrow streets winding through some the old Haveli's would give some of the most enchanting shots to any photographer. Modernity is all around them but people still follow their old family occupations which have been running in the family for hundreds of years. Life Is as simple as it used to be in the eighteenth century when the bazaar was a throbbing shopping boulevard in the capital of the Mughal empire.
