My Photo scholarship 2011 entry
Australia | Monday, October 31, 2011 | 5 photos
These photos were all taken on a chilly afternoon. I grabbed my camera after coming home from University and went for a stroll around my neighbourhood. I often go for walks around my suburb of Carramar and although its known for being a run-down sort of place, it is where I've lived all my life. I find nature and how its adapted to human development to be fascinating. An orange pink sky is as beautiful as the stark shapes of the power line its set against. I love trees and the shapes they form. When I came back from my stroll my neighbour stopped me and thrust the most gorgeous little boy in front of my camera. He had amazing eyelashes and didn't seem bothered by my snap-crazy antics. It was a lovely way to end a beautiful day. I take photos because every single moment of every day there is something happening. Whether it be nature putting a spectacular display of colour or coming face to face with a cute little cherub, I can't help but photograph things. When I take a photo, the moment doesn’t just pass, it lives on. It’s a remarkable thing to take a photograph, you appreciate your surroundings and you feel like you’re putting significance into the everyday. Taking a photo reminds me that every moment is important because it is all quite ephemeral.
