My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I have dreamed of being a travel photographer since seventeen, and have backpacked through India, South America, Bali and Thailand. I am studying a Bachelor of Design in Photography/Situated Media at UTS, Sydney.

I long to see the Middle East; but even more, to do so as Jason Edwards’ assistant; I want to learn how to capture images. I would give everything as an assistant: patience, focus, attention, readiness to listen and to learn all I can. My study of photography combined with fine arts has enabled my own style of photography to develop; I hope one day to be able to capture moments in people’s lives, glimpses of other cultures and maybe even suggestions of others’ souls and meaning, and so contribute to greater understanding and tolerance, as well as appreciation of our environment and the need to preserve it.

I cannot express how willing I am to learn, help, assist, re-learn, shoot, and over-work, in my pursuit to be an (amazing) travel photographer. I sincerely hope this is expressed through my images and the description of my personal journey thus far to obtain this goal and, furthermore, that this is not the last you hear from me.
