My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Australia | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 4 photos

I was born in South Africa, my family moved to Tamworth in 1996: Currently live in Newcastle
I’ve always been a very visual person and I was given my first 35mm Kodak instamatic point and shoot at the age of 6, My family traveled to the Great Barrier Reef when I was 12, that was my first taste of underwater photography using a disposable waterproof camera. I was now totally hooked on photography and used the opportunity of my 21st birthday to get a Canon 60D.
At the start of 2012 I started studying a certificate 4 in graphic design; even though photography was only a small part of the course it gave me a good grounding in photography and some basic skills to build on.
One evening I saw a photographer named Emily Dimozantos was looking to put together a crew for a sports event. I contacted her and told her about my lack of experience but she was more interested in my enthusiasm. She was very understanding and gave me a great opportunity, to shoot in her team at the first ever Sydney Tough Mudder races.
It was an awesome experience and a huge learning curve,
I would love to travel the world and take photos for a living, at the moment I just want to See more, Shoot more, Learn more.
