My Scholarship entry - The Spark of Discovery
Nicaragua | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos
I discovered my passion for telling stories as a teenager and have since set out to explore its many different mediums. Screenwriting, videography, video editing, and animation were at the core of these explorations, but I soon discovered photography as a unique and powerful storytelling format. Stripped of the distraction of time, a single captured moment has the potential to tell a deeply rich story, and yet in essence be so simple.
This realization hit me soon after my wife and I took the leap. We left our stressful lives behind in NYC and flew one-way to Central America to explore new worlds and connect with different cultures. It's been 10 months, and have experienced so much in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and now the Yucatan - and every day I go hunting for these snapshot stories, armed with a camera and an eagerness to experiment.
My goal is to continue exploring photography on the road, learning to maximize it to its full potential. I am absolutely committed to raise the bar and evolve my craft, with an insatiable hunger to keep growing. But most important, I have an unrelenting enthusiasm for photography and would love to apprentice with someone of the same sentiment.
