For essays such as this, saying that one loves photography is a given, but my love for photography is the essence of my very nature as a human being. It is probably the most oft repeated cliche but yes, a picture is worth a thousand words. My photos are my collection of moments. It expresses what I feel and what I see for that moment. It is the song in my heart; the laughter in my soul; the word, unspoken; the tear, unshed; the passion for each new dawn.

I have traveled a lot but Greenland would be the ultimate feather in the cap. I would be able to show my family that I am not merely a whimsical shutterbug. Learning under the tutelage of Nat Geo and Jason Edwards would be one of those unforgettable "moments".

I know there will be many applicants for this. Each will have a story to tell. Each will be worthy in their own right. I know I am.

Every second of my time, and every picture taken, will be devoted to making this dream of mine into a reality. If I get chosen for this, I intend to return triumphantly from Greenland and tell my family: “I’m a photographer.”
