A day as a Syrian descendent

Sharing Stories - A Glimpse into Another's Life - I never thought we were so alike

I arrived in Syria as a child, but I left with the view of an adult. I remember arriving in a dusty tiny plane,I thought we were goana die. When we finally got out of the air port we were greeted by a crowed of family. I came from the south so I was familiar with a large group of family but this was different. I did not know them nor did I speak the language but there was a connection. I arrived at a large house I thought it was enormous until I Learned the whole family lived there. After a day of meeting and greeting the family I got to learn how they made a livening they are farmers and carpenters, my family has an orchard of dates and fruit trees I've never seen some thing so peaceful as an orchard in the sunset the sky turning a orange red and the leaves blowing in the slight wind. The next day I awoke to my uncles telling me that to day I Lear what real work was,I was now employed in their factory in which they made couches ,chairs in tables and many other items. I got to meet every day workers just surviving in downtown damasks. I had lived life as an every day boy from Arkansas never thinking what my middle eastern heritage was about. I thought it was so different from what I knew I never thought I could relate as a child, after seeing a working class people doing the same thing that was going on back home I found a new under standing that no matter who you are or where you're from we are all part of the human experience one in the same. I would love the opportunity to learn more about the human experiment that is life and share it with the world from an average person view point. Much love ,
