My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

China | Friday, December 7, 2012 | 5 photos

My interest in Photography started as a Child. My father had a darkroom and agreed to give me all of the T-Max 400 I could use for free. I shot tons of pictures with my Pentax and T-Max. (my wife still Doesn't understand why like BW photos.) The only constraint was that I had to develop all of the film myself.

I am not a professional. For me photography is a form of meditation, it is my way of capturing beauty that we all seem to take for granted. Me, my camera, and coffee. It is almost zen like. In the moment I forget the stress in my life and enjoy my surroundings. The photos I have taken were taken for me, not for this competition. At the time I had a bad habit of converting the original photos. If you are interested in the originals, well so am I, but they are long gone now.

I would love the opportunity to travel for the sake of photography, catching the sunrises and sunsets. No one telling me to hurry up and stop with the pictures. I would also like to be mentored. I love it when someone says, "Rodger, stop! Look at that. Wouldn't that make a nice picture."

I imagine there are others with more natural skill than me still I hope you enjoy my pictures.
