My life in China.

Sakyamuni Buddha finger bone relic at Famen Temple.

CHINA | Monday, 14 February 2011 | Views [918]

I recently visited the Famen Temple in Xian, China with my wife Xiao Chang. I believed it was authentic. The finger bone is stored in an underground room under this well known temple in Fufeng, near to Xian. We were impressed by the new gold geometrically shaped temple which has been built next to the old ruined Famen Temple tower. This is a testimony to the great esteem with which this relic is held within the Chinese Buddhist community. We had a conversation with the monk who guarded the finger bone. He seemed to glow with happiness at having the opportunity to protect and promote this sacred item.
