On my first day of uni, a girl in my linguistics class invited me to go with her on a daytrip to Sierra Nevada, the 'snowy mountains' of Andalucia. I accepted at once and didn't really give it any proper thought until the day before when I pulled out a map of Spain and had a look at the region. That's when I realised Granada was right at the base of the Sierra Nevada, and decided that I may as well spend a couple of nights there... little did I know I was in for such a fantastic weekend escape!
The daytrip to Sierra Nevada was fun-filled with tobogganing, snowmen, snowball fights and much falling over on the icy slopes. The best thing about it though was the trip down to Granada! The view was amazing - snow covered mountains, rocky outcrops and, all the way at the bottom, the white houses of Granada.
From above, Granada looked beautiful, that's for sure. But it was only as I began exploring it on foot did I realise what a dynamic, surprising and even mysterious place it was.
