beautiful sapa vietnam

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Vietnam | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 5 photos

This past summer I took a hiatus from my daily grind in the animation world to explore my passion of photography. My exploration took me to many interesting places, but by far the most beautiful was Sapa Vietnam. You can find Sapa nestled in the northern region in the Lao Cai province. Boardering China, Sapa is home to the ethnic minorities of Vietnam. Hard working and tranquil culture, everyone from young children to elderly put in a long days work. Whether it's climbing the mountain side harvesting rice and corn, raising livestock, or supporting the thriving tourism culture. All the while raising their own families.

Through these photographs I hope to show the beautiful country side and the people who inhabit Sapa. A place where the weather can change in an instant, but the people are solid as the mountains they cultivate.

I find the photographs from my trip to be great reflections of my stories and memories and am so happy to share with others my experiences. Although sometimes challenging, learning about the culture and being able to show it through a single frame is something I extremely enjoy and look forward to continue.

This photography scholarship process has helped me see past a single moment and to create what is truly a narative of life for the places and people I capture. I look forward to continuing this journey and exploration of the world.

Much thanks and best of luck to everyone.
