My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Russian Federation | Tuesday, July 2, 2013 | 5 photos
I've left my country when I was ten years old, and went with my family from Russia to Italy. Talking to people in one country about the other I often said "I can't explain it, you had to see it", but when I started to get close to photography I understood that showing a picture might not be enough, leaving the viewer unimpressed.
Now when I take a photo, I try to discover the feelings, memories and perceptions connected to the subject and find a way to convey them through a single image, trying to find the soul of the place I'd visit.
I keep in mind that, wherever I go there will be people calling that place "home", loving it with it's ups and downs, no matter what, and if I manage to get a little deeper, to see what they see, and then to find images for their emotions, then I know I can really show that part of the world to those who never have been there.
I really wish to get the possibility to be mentored on the field by J. Edward because I want to get to use the language of photography to listen, understand and then narrate the stories of different people and places.
