Even as the monsoon season has arrived, birds still play around in times like these – when the sunlight hits the waters just right – and they occasionally celebrate in dances as such. The two birds flew around in circles with each other right above the surface of the cool waters. They repeatedly fly in this motion but with differing unique patterns, almost as if they were dancing in a pair.

In the morning, the keeper of this place would rise early to attend to the chores around the premise. He tends to the gardens – all the trees, every plants – and he cleans the drains, etc. Morning to morning, he would clean the pool and sprinkle white chlorine powder into the pool. It reminded me of magical fairy dusts. It also made me wonder if anyone else notices him at all as he attend to all the chores in a place we call home. I did not grow up here and I only came to live here when I returned from my study abroad. This may be a condominium but the premise is still considered our home too. He is, in one way or another, keeper of many homes.

My dearest grandmother would often welcome us with a smile when she remembers us; or when we bring along one of her favourite snacks: red bean paste steamed buns. Her once jet-black hair has faded into snow white hair; every wrinkle on her face documents close to a century worth of experiences.
