My Scholarship entry - Putting it together
South Korea | Friday, October 31, 2014 | 5 photos
Ever since I was a young girl I loved puzzles. I loved piecing together the infinite layers of knobby edges that would result in a masterpiece. Puzzles, in all their childlike glory, are magnificent.
I sometimes compartmentalize my life much like a galaxy-sized puzzle. Some pieces I have to force to happen, crunching them into place, and others click together blissfully. That resulting image, whatever it shapes up to be, is constantly evolving and morphing into bigger puzzles. Over time, I have become obsessed with the big picture; the completed image. Photography has contributed largely to this manifestation, and I am driven to be more creative and daring with my images. Living in South Korea has exposed me to a dramatically new set of puzzle pieces to explore.
I should be chosen for this photographic adventure because of my potential to thrive, keen eye and willing attitude. Growing up in a family of climatologists, I have been on the move since day one; piecing together parts of the world. Travel inspires and challenges me. Peru is an incredible frontier, and working alongside a professional photographer would be a dream come true. Ultimately, this opportunity would be an incredible puzzle to add to my life's collection.
