My Scholarship entry - The art of Kushti wrestling
India | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
For as long as I can remember I've been fascinated by visual arts, emotions, and the people who express them. By default I ended up working in IT for almost 15 years, satisfied only by the art of others; day-dreaming that one day, perhaps it would be me out there.
When I decided to take a sabbatical from my government job two years ago, I sold my house and belongings and began to travel. Some would call it being in seek of one's self. Me, I like to think I was looking for something more meaningful – human connection.
I found what I was looking for and started using the camera to capture it. I felt I could see their very souls through the look in their eyes and it made me vibrate. I had found my passion.
Recently resigned from my job, I plan to return to school to study Photojournalism in the fall. I left Canada 3 months ago with the single goal of building my portfolio and learning the detailed skill of photography. I am currently writing to you from India where each day I continue to photograph the diverse ways of life and the emotions of those around me.
