Journey...to a local village

My Scholarship entry - Through Local Eyes

WORLDWIDE | Monday, 15 October 2012 | Views [192] | Scholarship Entry

Whether it is the biblical legend of David and Goliath or the eternal conflict of good and evil, contrasts always hold us in awe. It is this lure of apparent contradictions in life that led us on a journey to Hauz Khas - a cauldron of contrasts. In this film we show case the various contrasting socio-cultural elements and trace the evolution of this urban village from a small medieval settlement during the early days of the Delhi Sultanate to its modern avatar.

No previous experience

Winning this scholarship could open the doors for a lifelong association with travel. This is important to us at multiple levels. At one level it will no doubt help satiate an eternal impulse to hit the road. At another level it will also offer us a chance to witness the diverse natural and cultural elements that make our world. It is through this experience that we hope to understand the various interdependencies or the linkages that exist not only in nature but also across cultures around the world and therefore make a more informed effort towards their preservation.
