Photography etches, Travel Sculpts!

My Scholarship entry - Flipping out with my Antarctic Friends

Antarctica | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos

Being an educator, I realise that travel is one of the best teachers & photography is one of the best mediums of story telling for children. I have been spending a few weeks over the last few years on travel, documenting experiences – from backpacking Europe for landscape & architecture, safaris in Southern Africa for wildlife & nature, sports events in passionate South America, to trading my savings for an expedition to Antarctica! These experiences coupled with photos & videos have given me great perspective on creating exciting content for children, in areas of nature, wildlife and sports. This scholarship comes as a tremendous opportunity for me, to visit the Amazon – a place I have read about and wanted to explore since I was young. As a nature & wildlife enthusiast, I know that the Amazon has extremely high biodiversity. It would be an honour to photograph and document the amazing place with Mr. Edwards. I hope to create a ‘photography and education’ blog to suit young adults and this opportunity will be a significant stepping stone for me in this regard! A visual narrative for children - for it is they, who will determine the future and safeguarding of our environment.
