Kodachadri, a mountain peak. A place in western ghats of Karnataka, which is around 1300 m from sea level. A place which is also known as trekkers' paradise. This place is around 400 km from Bangalore and 125 km from Udupi.
Except the local jeep very few private vehicles can afford to go till the top of the mountain. Or else we can trek till the top for around 17 km and trek back 17 km down. And most important thing about this place is that there is only one bungalow of PWD on the top which might not suits all. And also there is no options for food at the top. Only one option we have discovered which was in the middle of all greenery. There were 2 cottages in which each cottage can accommodate 3 person each. Here the food was simple and tasty and the surrounding was inviting enough to laze around. As our initial plan, we had our lunch and started to trek. Half of the way we trek by bike and half by hiring 1 jeep, which cost us around 800 RS. In that jeep we wore our helmets because the seen was very terrifying. There was no road at all, only the pathway which looks carved out from the rocks. If the drive would have lost control then we would be flying down from the mountain. But the driver was well experience. But still we hold on to whatever we can and leave the rest to the driver. After a trek of one an half hour we reached at the top of the mountain we felt like we are in heaven but there was a fear, that we have to go back by the same route.
As we were climbing, we could see the clouds ahead and we went right into them. The sight was very enchanting. After a few minutes every thing was appeared to be covered with white and then gradually the clouds pass on, the greenery returns. After seeing all these we had on words to explain our experience. The best time to be on the top of the mountain is during sunset and sunrise. We hardly would have spent about 1 hour on the top of the mountain. And started trekking back because it was getting very late.
We had a wonderful experience over there. If i would have enough time in the coming future i would like to visit this place again.
