Windy as Chicago
This city can blow some strong winds. Doesn’t matter what your weather app says or how cosy the beautiful sun of September or October makes you feel, always be prepared with a light or sport jacket.
Cable cars are the best excuse to be a tourist
You can be a person that abominates those tourists walking around with their sniper cameras and maps. But the cable cars are the best excuse to be a foolish tourist. It is as silly as it’s fun and feels almost like a very slow roller coast. You can buy the ticket inside the cars, so don’t leave your place in the line.
Folsom Street Fair is a great mixture of sensual fun
Most people gets horrified by this festival, but natives are actually very open minded about it. It mixes a lot of sexual exposure - with naked people, porn stars and normal people engaging in sexual interactions, but in a very respectful way. But don’t drink too much to the point of forgetting what you did: unless you are a exhibitionist, a lot of the stuff that happens at Folsom Fair doesn’t stay there. There is always someone ready to share your dirty little secret with a smartphone.
Baker Beach can be liberating
At first seems like a fairly common beach until you find out it’s also nudist. Most of the people that go there are cool with it. You will find very mature guys taking their suits or kaki shorts to sun bathe butt naked. It’s also a spot for gay cruising, but you will be disappointed with the lack of hunks if you go on weekdays.
NEVER try to go walking to Golden Gate Bridge….
From the Fishermen’s Warf is a terrible walk with little shadow to comfort the warriors who try this. Choose a bike tour or rent one. Going from the 25th Avenue and Baker Beach, the trail is nicer and very enjoyable. And you can always take the bus back to rest your soared feet.
Run a little
Even with its hills, San Francisco breathes the sweat of its runners. It’s seems like everyone is running, anytime, anywhere, alone or in groups. Take some time to explore the city with your running shoes.
Drink a beer o wine - or both - in Dolores Park
A hidden treasure, where young, trendy, weird, handsome people go to talk, grab a smoke and drinks something without anyone judging - or arresting you.
Startups are a thing over there
Forget Silicon Valley! Startups are moving to San Francisco, specially SoMa, where future Mark Zuckerbergs share the sidewalk with strange characters and homeless people with cardboards with better sayings than some elevator pitches.
