My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
USA | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
I have vivid memories of my childhood, when I spent most of my time clicking pictures with my father’s camera. I am a trained Indian classical dancer and an avid painter. My flair for liberal arts drew me into the world of photography. I believe it is a powerful form of art due to the purity of its medium and its ability to reach out to its audience.
I am a lawyer by profession and moved to California, a few months back. Whenever I am at a new destination, I am compelled to capture the valuable moments, which I can preserve for a lifetime. As a social being, I want my photos to tell a story to my community and the world at large. I yearn to generate such photos that leave spectators enchanted and curious.
I am enthused about travelling to different parts of the world, interact with people and be one with their diverse culture. I read about the National Geographic Scholarship at a juncture of my life when I knew I had to take my hobby to the next level. Learning with Jason Edwards through this scholarship would be once in a lifetime opportunity. This has made me work harder to realize my full potential in the art of photography.
Sincerely,
Radha Ramakrishnan.
