I am Rachel. I am a designer by trade. My passions are traveling and taking pictures. I love experiencing new places, people and things. Sharing these experiences with others via photos is a privilege. As an English major and book geek, I love a good story and feel that my stories are best told through a collection of images and words.
My hope is that I will inspire someone to go out experience the world.
I have a good eye for what makes a place special, but would like to improve my technical skills. I want to show others not only what I see, but also what I feel. I want to give them a better understanding of the spirit of a place.
I switched to digital a few years ago and am happy I did. However, I sometimes feel like I am cheating a little. By taking a lot more shots I am greatly improving the odds of just getting lucky. As for altering images, I do a lot of retouching of other people’s work for my job, but don’t like to retouch my own photographs. I love the feeling of getting the image right by shooting, not manipulating.
My goal as a photographer is to do things with more intention, using the tools that I have available. I believe this will allow me to open up the world to others and show them what they might be missing.
