Photo Scholarship Entry 2011: Greece: Wild at Heart

For me, my journey into photography began at a young age.
At the very beginning, I had little understanding about where my little, yellow, standard format camera would take me – but it certainly took me on a journey in the early years; taking me to places where I learnt about animals, human beings and the connections they shared with their environments. It was this that helped me to be grateful for the spirit and personality of what's around me.

Today, I am a learning photographer who's never afraid of thinking creatively and trying new things. My heart, is my creative edge that drives me to take better shots – I aim to convey feeling, perspective, simplicity and beauty of my subject all at once, but ultimately I'd like the viewer to take away the elements of my photos that speak to them the most.

My passion and love is to explore, and learn the art of photography in its infinite potential, and to contribute more of the beauty the earth and the beings within it have to offer, to everyone.

The experience would allow me to share my journey of discovery and appreciation with others in the greater community through my photos and written word. I hope that by grabbing this opportunity with both hands, that I can influence other learning photographers like myself to take that initial step, to learn more, and to fight for their dream.

Through this experience, I hope to gain knowledge and inspiration to influence the way I take my photos as I grow as a photographer. I also hope to gain a better understanding of what it will take to build my career in photography, and fulfil my dream through hard word and further learning.
