Gouarec - Sunday

Sunday - Our first full day in Gouarec.  We cycled along the canal to the town of Bon Repos.  Only 10 km return but a good sojourn in which to try out the bikes.  They are smooth to ride - well maintained.  Sunday markets were in full swing when we got there.  They were OK but I think I've been spoilt by the Noosa markets.  We wandered around the ruins of an Abbey that overlooked the canal by the markets and then cycled the two km to the Forges Des Salles Chateau, but it didn't open till 2.30pm!  We walked a bush track to the top of a nearby hill and the ruins of some ancient tombs.  To me just a pile of rocks but I guess significant in the scheme of things.

We returned later in the car and while there noticed a couple speaking English.  And true to form they were neighbours.  They live on the Sunshine Coast at Alexandra Headlands!!  They're spending 4 months in Europe.  They have hired a holiday home from it's English owners for £500 per month, and leased a car for approx. €20/day by the time they return it.  They're travelling all over Europe from their Brittany base.  Sounds like a good deal to me?  He said they'd already managed 1000km on a single tank of gas.
