My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

My photos are from a place far away from me and a place my father would talk of fondly. A place he would say would of been beautiful if it had not been war-torn. Where no one smiled and fear was everywhere. He talked about the war. I wanted to see what life was like there today so many years since my father served in the Army. I came back to tell him things have changed, it is beautiful and the people smile all the time. They are not afraid like they were and the country-side that once was war-torn has trees and grass everywhere. I told him I believed that the most moving place was Panmunjom the peace line....a scene of pain and hope, where conflict and dialogues between North and South Korea co-exist. That it made me wonder if there would ever be another war in this beautiful country so far away.
I am a woman with a lot of dreams, high hopes and a deep passion. Born in the United States and raised in Europe my life has always been about traveling, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures were a way of life for myself. I am an Army Brat, I was a nomad no place was home but everywhere we called home. My camera is moblie, like me, so it was easy to carry with me when we moved from place to place. Writing became my escape and photography reminds me of my experiences. My interest in being exposed to different cultures inspires me. My dream is to photograph the world and the people in it. To write what I experience and to enjoy the process.
I would love to be a travel photographer it is my dream, my passion! My name is Patty Wright!
