My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I've been trying to become a professional artist of one sort of another for a long time now, however, it has never really worked out very well for me. I've explored a lot of different mediums, everything from stone sculpture to web design. A lot of the fields I have worked in in the past have lead to some lonely and isolated places.
As a visual artist primarily in sculptural medium, photography has always been a necessary tool for me to convey my work to others and I have always felt that it was a very positive part of my process. Photos I would take allowed me to show the world what I had been doing. In such that one skill more than any other has been a focus for me to develop because it represents me having a relationship with an audience.
In the past year I have started taking photography seriously in itself as an art form, exploring and doing what I can on a limited budget. It has lead me to relationships with people and places which I would never have explored before, and generally helped me feel more part of a community.
I think that if I were chosen it would really help me contribute to society in a meaningful way and take my skills to the next level.
