Pljevlja: Montenegro and the future

Montenegro | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos

Photography’s versatility is what appeals most to me. It can be a pure tool of documentation or a device which never leaves the most elaborate set of elite art studios. The conflation of these two ideals inspires me to make images which reveal and relish both worlds in a sublime reality.
With my formal education in history, I have the proper tools to make serious use of my natural propensity to explore, wonder, and to ask why. This curiosity has led me to document the beauty of skateboarding and punk rock concerts in my youth, raw political activism in post-9/11 America, and the stories of inspiring people in rural western Maine while freelancing for small magazines based in the area.
I currently live the life of an expatriate and avid traveler in Copenhagen, where I work at a study abroad school. Now my job is to instill the wonderment and excitement I feel about the world to college students, often clearer when one is far from a familiar home. I constantly wish to further this trajectory in myself as well. This Scholarship will help me to pursue the noble art of photography so that I can better share the overwhelming feeling of the sublime, which exists every day, everywhere.
