My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Prateik means a symbol. A symbol of perfection I would choose to call it. My parents named me this and I intend to live up to it.

I am a student of Arts and I am in my final year of college. The road ahead is blurred but not unclear.

But let me start at the beginning.

I don’t know how one fine day I slipped into this world of the jungles and fell in love. Chasing butterflies and looking at insects I decided to start carrying my dinky hotshot camera around. I realized I could spend hours perfecting my shots and not realize that I had indeed spent hours in the lap of nature. Some where then I decided it was time to take this up more seriously. Not having the resources to buy a professional camera I continued to take shots with my hotshot camera…which meant more patience. To crawl up real close to a butterfly and not have it disappear simply because I did not have a telephoto lens yet. Not begrudging anything I steadily took couple of tuitions and eventually got my first camera with a normal lens. My world changed. Slowly my understanding grew of photography and nature and how to merge the two together beautifully.

I have a long long way to go. And I am willing to invest much more time and energy than I do at the moment. Photography has moved from being a hobby. This is going to be my way of life. And at this juncture I need a mentor. I need to grow out of my little pond and see the world. I would greatly appreciate if I could be chosen for the scholarship over millions of others ….coz all I can promise is…. Well all of me.
