The happiest people are often the poorest.

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Nepal | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos

Life begins at 40.

After dedicating my adult life to the education of others, I accepted a job to work in the Middle East as an education consultant. To pass the time in a very isolated location, I bought a Canon 1000D 4 years ago and took it everywhere with me. I've always felt blessed to work in an industry that I'm truly passionate about and now, as I turn 40 this year, I want that opportunity to extend to my other great passion, travel photography. Whilst working in the Middle East, I was fortunate enough to travel to some fantastic locations and meet some incredible people who welcomed me into their culture quite openly. I got to take photos. I began framing all that I saw, even without a camera in my hand and came to realise quite quickly, that photography was an extension of my adventurous spirit, my eagerness to be exposed to challenge and discovery and an ability to capture that experience for others. I am a novice, but I'm passionate and determined and I believe in lifelong learning. I want the opportunity to take the ability I have and develop it further. I want to be one of the lucky ones who can spend their time doing exactly what it is their passionate about.
