My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I've always been a wanderer, traveling and working around the globe. Conservation has been a thread throughout my career as an environmental educator and working for national and city parks in several countries.
Photography has also been a constant in my life. I’m driven to capture the beauty of the world in compelling images. Though I’m primarily drawn to landscapes, I want to learn about and gain comfort in photographing people.
I love sharing my work. I keep a blog; I give prints as gifts; and I create annual calendars to share with friends and family, all to inspire travel, conversation, and a conservation ethic towards the cultures and environments in my images.
I've recently begun a project idea of mine - photographing my local parks to highlight their beauty, design, and role in the city’s livability. It’s ambitious and has great potential. The new skills and confidence I’d gain from this mentorship would be invaluable. From planning to post-production, from filters and lenses to “how to” for landscapes and people, I want to absorb and learn it all. Afterwards, I intend to put my lessons to use by completing my local park project and taking the idea global.
