My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Spain | Monday, December 31, 2012 | 5 photos
Home is fluid of late, with wherever my husband and I land being our new residence. As a former Spanish teacher and language major, I have always loved exploring new cultures, foods, languages, and ways of being. I am fascinated most with the female role across cultures, especially along cultural fault lines where very distinct and different cultures meet and mix.
I am currently spending time developing a life-long fascination with photography through a Volkshochschule in Germany and UK-based The Blackford Centre. My main photographic interests include female portraiture (highlighting time, place, culture, and the female role), regional culinary arts and events, and various forms of regional artistic expression.
My goal is to become a photographer skilled at portraying and documenting the real life situations of women around the world, culinary traditions as practiced in their birthplace, and artistic expression as linked to culture, place, and activism. Taking part in the Journey to Oman would be an invaluable experience in developing both my photographic skill and awareness of logistical and professional issues as related to photography etiquette across cultures.
