My name is Dominique, an aspiring Biology major and lover of photography, nature, and the arts. This summer I was fortunate enough to accompany my biology professor and his good friend, Mark O'Shea, to Timor-Leste, a small country located in Southeast Asia. Several other students and myself were invited to assist these two world-renowned herpetologists to survey this young country's amphibians and reptiles. The photos chosen were all taken with a Pentax K-X with a standard 18-55mm lens. They briefly showcase our adventures in Timor-Leste, what types of specimens were caught, and the breathtaking scenery of the country.
Through this experience, I have discovered a great level of patience that is required to photograph wildlife; and while I fell in love with Timor Leste, it has left a void inside me that cannot be filled. I will forever be eager to travel to new exciting places and take awe inspiring photos that will be enjoyed for generations to come. I believe my unremitting, life-long love for nature makes me a perfect candidate for this assignment and given the chance to further enhance my photography skills, my only hope is that I could inspire others in a comparable way.
