My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

China | Saturday, October 16, 2010 | flickr photos

In China, with almost 60% of the population being rural, a journey out of town often means a journey in the fields .
From the producer to the consumer I had the chance to witness the process that leads living animals to the wok and I was stroked by the ambiguity of the human/animal relationship.
Eating them is the closest we will ever get from them. But at the same time they instantly become anonymous, they are now a mean of living.

This simple set illustrate the tight interaction between the farmer and his animal that links producer and consumer when sold.

Photography to me is about capturing a moment that will generate an emotion afterward, it's a still collection of actions that convey an idea.
This definition of photography pushed me to travel as much as I can afford to experience a broad variety of environments in order to develop that sense of instantaneity.
But learning is an never-ending process and you always need guidance.
That's why I decided to apply for this scholarship that combines the experience of an accomplished photographer and a demanding subject (wildlife/travel photography), all that in a mysterious country. This once in a life time experience would allow me to focus completely on my passion while learning from a professional.
Ultimately, the goal is to transmit the feeling that made me press the shutter and push the beholder to do the same, I deeply believe that this scholarship will help me to achieve this goal.

Hopefully the road is long.
