My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am Polina, I was born in the Soviet Union, I spent my childhood living between Siberia & Kyrgyzstan until 1991, when we immigrated to Australia. We moved a lot during my youth, & as an adult I never feel settled, I am always itching to move & have traveled to 40 countries with a camera in my hands.
I feel completely alive when I am shooting. I never dared dream that my photos could go beyond being a hobby. Travelling has taught me, and has challenged my own stereotypes of the world; I would love to share how far short our perception falls from reality sometimes. Until you visit a place, images are the next best thing. I often hitchhike & couchsurf with locals, which puts me in a position to see some unusual situations. I want to be able to share my discoveries through my images.
I wish I was braver; I have held back despite wanting to take a shot, at times when words can never really explain what I had witnessed.
The scholarship is fantastic, I am so eager to learn; my recent trip to Iran had surprised me deeply, & has sparked a fascination for the Middle East. Visiting Oman would be challenging and exciting, especially knowing that the work would go towards something.
