My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
Worldwide | Friday, September 17, 2010 | 4 photos
These photos were all taken on my 2007 solo trip throughout Europe (mostly the Eastern Block States). This catalog of photographs show the contrast of lifestyle in the region, from bustling streets in Vilnius to seemingly endless dirt roads in on the border of Poland. A breadth of emotion is exhibited as well, through the serendipitous placement of a beam of light through a window on the picture of a holocaust victim to the delightful experience of playing hide and seek with a old woman hanging her laundry to dry in a village off the grid in Latvia. I feel that deserve to take this extraordinary trip to Bhutan because I have a lust for life that comes through in my photography. I am able to capture emotion in a single frame. I live to travel, often working menial jobs trying to save money so that I may continue to take amazing trips, meet interesting people, and experience something that is not the "normal American cookie cutter vacation". I am also eager to learn about the culture and history of the small nation of Bhutan. To meet people from such a different way of life is so interesting to me, to learn about how they experience day to day life and convey that through the lens of a camera would be such a privilege to me.
