My Scholarship entry - As The Sun
Australia | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 4 photos
I have always carried a camera, but until recently have been unsure of what direction to take my photography in. I have found that I can use my camera as a way to create connections and hear people’s stories. The world is beginning to open up for me, right here in my own city.
I feel a growing desire to make a positive impact during my time here. Photography is a powerful tool to me, and if I can use it to educate, provoke, inspire and promote change, however small, I will have done my job.
It would be a great honor to visit Oman, a place I doubt I would ever visit otherwise, spend time with the locals and be immersed in their culture. Upon returning home from this life changing experience I would have a drive and passion in me that could not be ignored. I would jump feet first and dedicate my life to it.
To date, I have been somewhat solitary in my photography with no formal training; to work alongside Jason would be invaluable, as I would gain the confidence and knowledge I need to take my career further. I thrive when working to a brief, and would be excited to write about our experiences to share with your readers.
I am a sponge, ready to absorb Jason’s advice and guidance.
