Goats and trees

MOROCCO | Friday, 22 October 2010 | Views [808]

We had heard about argan oil a number of times and had seen the trees spread across the countryside.  Each time we were shown an almost unbelievable picture of goats among the branches of an argan tree.  We saw the phenomenom for real on our way to Essaouira.  Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw two goats in a roadside tree.  A few hundred metres further and there was a tree full of goats!  Our taxi driver could see our excitement and pulled over for us to take a photo.  Quick as a flash a man jumped out from behind the tree, grabbed a kid goat from the tree and pushed it’s head into the open car window.  "Photo, photo" and 20 dirham later we drove away.  It wasn't until we passed hundreds more goat-less argan trees that we embarrassingly realised it was a set up.
