My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

P1. Bhutanese Delicacy- Chillies are eaten as vegetable rather than spice in Bhutan. You are bound to find chillies in all sizes and colours in the market. Bhutanese cuisines without chillies are rare.
P2. The Fort- I rushed to take this picture before sunset and I was lucky. Beauty in Bhutan is synonymous with fortress and traditional paintings. Paro Dzong (fort) symbolises a monument of medieval Bhutan and showcases the country’s attempt for preservation of the past glory.
P3. The Traffic Man- Believe it or not, Thimphu is the only Capital city in the world without traffic lights.
P4. Buddhism and Beads- Elderly Buddhist women chanting mantras.
P5. The Holy Stupas- One of its kinds in the Kingdom, the stupas at Dochula pass above Thimphu valley stands testimony of victory of good over evil.
I am an environmental science student. I saved my little scholarship money to buy a DSLR camera two months ago. Few days back while browsing internet for photography courses, I came across this scholarship: excitement engulfed me. In Bhutan photography is not very popular and I know of only one professional Bhutanese photographer. Even if we are zealous and enthusiastic learner, opportunity is limited here. This scholarship provides me a very beautiful opportunity to partake in the contest and who knows I may sneak in. Seeing the world through the lens with a NatGeo photographer would be simply awesome. I am a novice with great enthusiasm. Choosing a Bhutanese for Bhutanese adventure would be a perfect reason to select me and I know a great deal about the Herons and Cranes habitat in Bhutan. A rare opportunity-novice meeting a professional. And most importantly by choosing me a great deal of carbon footprint can be reduced. I will be honoured to receive Mr. Jason at the airport.
