My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am on a photographic journey to enjoy life in simple ways through colour, light, darkness and most of all food. I have been interested in photography since I was a kid when I was given a polaroid camera and a box of cartridges but the versatility of the camera was limited to what was directly before me. Through the years I picked up different types of cameras until early 2012 when I finally had enough spare cash to buy a Pentax Kx for $200 from a second hand shop, since then I have always had my camera by my side - even when I sleep. The lenses might have dust inside them and my rechargeable batteries are losing their zeal but it doesn't stop me from using the last bit of fuel I have to find somewhere interesting to try something new. Wildlife, space, landscapes, people (mainly my kids) are all interesting subjects but I would like to explore more than just the places and people I know intimately, I want to get lost somewhere new and find myself in a new light. I want to challenge myself and breath different air and hear different sounds and be a stranger somewhere else.
