My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

It is not uncommon to find a widowed elderly woman on the ghats of Varanasi. Most of them find a place at old age homes in the city or earn their livelihood by selling 'chai' (tea) and just live by the ghats under a temporarily arranged hut.

It is easy to get lost in the narrow alleys of the ancient maze like city of Varanasi and one often finds a kind smiling gentleman who patiently explains the way to reach a place.

At least once in a life time, visit Varanasi and take a holy dip in the river Ganges - this is what a typical Hindu believes in India. Especially, the elderly wait for an opportunity to visit Varanasi, irrespective of their old age, health condition, financial situation etc.
