A 'place' I have visited - Streets of South East Asia

That’s the sound of a photo. The sound of a moment.

Every photo is a moment. A cross section of the continuum of life. A snapshot. Like if god was able to hand you the remote control and allow you permanent access to see the world in a split second.

And if you miss it, it will never come back.

You can try to recreate a photo. You can return to the same spot, ask people to pull the same expression and wait for the sun to fall to the same position. But as close you can try, it is not the same. The moment's gone. Forever. You can never take the same photo twice.

All moments are unique. All events are doomed to history.

That's why photos are so great. They record moments. They give you the illusion that you can stop time, that you can pause life. They fool you into thinking that in a small way, you have some small ability to control time.

Most of all, they allow you to appreciate the beauty which we so easily overlook as we go through the droning rituals of life.

I don’t want to miss these moments. I want more meaning in my life than computer screens and company reports. I want to contribute to this art. I want to capture these moments.

I want to capture life.
