My Photo scholarship 2010 entry: Batanes... In Search of Roots and Reason

Molded by time, separated by sea, weathered by storms and nurtured by the seasons, these relentless struggles have never been an excuse for Batanes, its islands and its people but more so added to their character that served as inspiration. Batanes is not just a destination but a gracious host to my quixotic adventures and brave heart moments. Here the figments of my imagination were rekindled. Here my flights of fancy were reinspired. Here I experienced a rebirth of a life forgiving, enlightenment for purpose, fire for my passions that evoked new beginnings.
I catapult myself out in the real world by joining the World Nomads Travel Photography Scholarship to Bhutan because like my trip to Batanes I want to learn and experiment as much as I can in the art of photography, learn to communicate with it regardless of boundaries. To know more about life, people, culture and develop life-long relationships with kindred spirits and tell their story to the other corners of the world.
In turn, I hope to develop as a photographer who could inspire, share the intricacies and pleasures of photography. I hope to realize my dream to introduce photography to the unprivileged and spark hope that there is a better life and future for them. Maybe through this path find their reason, make a living and a difference in this world. Right now it seems like an impossible feat nevertheless I’m shooting for the moon, that whatever I pick-up from the scholarship I shall pass on the legacy. I would also love to hold an exhibit and envision sponsorships and proceeds to benefit my yet unreachable star.
These are the essentials I know the scholarship to Bhutan could arm me with as I try to realize my biggest challenge and contribution to the world.
