My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

1 year ago I decided to leave a steady desk in London and move to Western Australia. I came to pursue my photography ambitions, an insatiable urge to travel and photograph was the pull, two at the very core of me. The world really is the most wonderful place and my camera has been like the skeleton key to all the extra bits, normally unattainable to the normal traveler. I find it unbearable to be without a camera confronted with such beauty. I love how you meet real down to earth people at every turn, never the stereotypes you read about, I love photographing that, showing off the results, breaking down perceptions. Photography for me has become bigger than a click of the shutter, it’s the interaction, time spent developing relationships with strangers, waiting for exceptional light and conditions, the final shot a culmination of all this, I look through my images and see the wonderful stories created just by capturing that one moment. I have never seen myself doing anything else, getting there, achieving my goal, stumbling a little less are the reasons I want be part of the scholarship. I see an opportunity to make a true difference; I have a lot to photograph, even more to learn
