My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited - Botswana Safari
Botswana | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
On my first trip abroad to London (life before the internet), I went armed with many rolls of color and b/w film and two cameras hoping to capture the iconic images to show what the world outside of Philadelphia looked like. It was this trip that ignited a passion for me to explore the world as a solo traveler. Now 40 countries later, I travel with two digital cameras, a blackberry and an ipod to share my discoveries with those that travel in spirit with me. My nieces think i'm the most interesting family member because of my travels, which is so cool. After my holidays in Easter Island and Africa last year, I am now starting a travel blog to share my many photos and stories with the travel community. My comfort zone has been landscapes and water -it's easier to observe rather than engage with my photos. Photography allows me to shut off life at home and explore. I want to take risks, respect the culture and learn how to properly include people in my photos. I am a tabula rasa for this assignment - I would love the opportunity to experience the land of frankincense, a country of visual and fragrant beauty, and share it with the world (or just my nieces because they are awesome).
